High School: Lettered four seasons and captained two years for coach John Reith at Royalton-Hartland High School. Finished 10th in the Class C Division at the 2011 New York State Cross Country Championships, earning all-state honors. Western New York runner of the year and a first-team All-Western New York selection.

Personal: Born February 4, 1994. Son of Franklyn and Shelly Pfeil. Has one brother (Eddy) and two sisters (Caitlin, Gwenlyn). Favorite athlete is Steve Prefontaine and his favorite movie is the Prefontaine biopic Without Limits. Comes from a running family, brother was a teammate at Roy-Hart, finishing 17th in the 2011 state meet while father and uncle ran in college with his uncle earning All-American cross country honors. Majoring in exercise science.
