High School: Won 12 letters and captained two seasons at Binghamton High School for coach David Cody. Ran in the intersectional medley relay at the 2012 New York State Indoor Championships, helping the foursome to a third-place finish.

Personal: Born January 3, 1994. Son of Randy and Jenny Gowland. Has one brother (Colin). Favorite foods include omelets, pizza and lo mein. Enjoys folk music and lists Bon Iver, Beirut and Grizzly Bear among his favorite bands. Majoring in exercise science.
