Andreza Santos is in her fourth season as assistant coach with the Bull. Santos, a native of Brazil, comes to Buffalo after spending the two seasons as an assistant coach at Florida A&M. Santos is in charge of UB’s international recruiting efforts.
Last season, Santos worked with the outside hitters and blockers, helping the Bulls to an 11-win season, despite fielding one of the youngest teams in the country. Santos helped coach Liz Scott onto the All-MAC Freshman Team.
In 2010, Santos helped middle blocker Abby Niekamp to a career year where she finished as a second-team All-MAC selection. Niekamp was amongst the MAC leaders in hitting percentage throughout the season.
In her first season with the Bulls, Santos primarily worked with UB’s hitters and numerous players finished with career-best numbers. Marisa Hornbaker, had more kills last season than she had in her first two seasons combined, while also getting academic kudos from the MAC. Santos also helped coach Dani Silvers onto the all-tournament team of two non-conference tournaments, including the tournament MVP at the Cornell Invitational.
Prior to UB, Santos helped coach Florida A&M to its eighth consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament where they played Florida in the first round. The Lady Rattlers finished the season 14-13, but did post a 7-1 mark in league play. In 2007, Florida A&M also won the MEAC title falling to Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 3-1. The Lady Rattlers finished that season 18-8.
Santos played two seasons for Florida State for Todd Kress, beginning in 2004. In 2005, Santos led the Seminoles in hitting percentage at .278 and her 356 kills were also tops on the team. She also added 127 digs and 66 total blocks for Florida State.
Santos received a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs from Florida State in December 2006.
