BUFFALO, NY – Head volleyball coach Todd Kress has announced the addition of three players who have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Bulls for the 2011 season. Included in the class are two players from Indiana and one from the State of New York.
"We are thrilled with all three players and the qualities they bring here to Buffalo," said Kress. "We have now been able to put together back-to-back recruiting classes of kids that are going to help in the development of this program. Each of these young women are not only great volleyball players, but they are great people and that is very important to us."
Liz Scott - 6'0". Right Side (Canadaigua, NY)
Scott is a five-year letterwinner and a three-year member of the VolleyFX Magic 18U Club Team. She was a section V All-Star and a Prep Volleyball "150" Senior Ace. Scott was named to the Under Armour Girls High School All-America Watch List. Scott was named a first-team All-State selection during her junior year where her team was Section V State Champions. Scott has been named by Prep Volleyball as a "Soph 79 Best In the Country" Highest Honorable Mention and "Best High School Playing Freshman" Highest Honorable Mention. Scott is also a scholar athlete and a member of the National Honor Society.
"Liz has a lot special qualities and she is a perfectionist," said Kress. "She knows how to make people around her better and she is going to have an extremely positive impact on this program."
Sable Staller - 6"2" Outside Hitter (Russiaville, IN)
Staller was a four-year starter and one year captain at Western High School. She played middle blocker for her school team and outside hitter for the Munciana Club Volleyball Teams. She earned all-conference recognition in all four seasons and led her team in kills, digs, blocks and aces during her junior and senior seasons. She also led her team to conference championships in each of those years and led the team to its first sectional championship game in 25 years.
"We first saw Sable at the middle position and then she was moved to outside, which is where she is going to play for us," said Kress. "I believe her best volleyball is still ahead of her and I think once she finds her rhythm that she can be an elite level outside hitter for us."
Chelsea Toth - 6'3" Middle Blocker (Mishawaka, IN)
Toth was named first-team all-state her senior year as she led her team to an undefeated 39-0 record. She was second-team all-state during her junior year as the team finished 40-0 and were mythical National Champion Runner-ups. Toth has been a four-year starter and maintained a .600 hitting percentage during her junior and senior seasons.
"I haven't met many people that understand the game better than Chelsea does," said Kress. "She understands blocking and that is very important for a middle. She played for one of the best high schools in the country and she takes a very cerebral and analytical approach to the game. I am looking forward to watching her develop."
