Miranda Podlas Named MAC Player Of The Week
CLEVELAND, OH – Buffalo freshman Miranda Podlas has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced late Wednesday night. The award is the first for Podlas and the first for a Buffalo player this season.
Podlas helped fuel a comeback over Binghamton last Sunday as the Bulls defeated the Bearcats, 4-3. The Buffalo, NY native was the only player to win both her doubles and singles matches on the afternoon. Podlas joined up with Diana Popescu for a victory at first doubles as the duo defeated Anna Edelman and Yagmur Gone, 9-7. Podlas then steamrolled through her singles contest at sixth singles as she defeated Gone in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
Podlas is currently 6-3 on the season, which is third on the team in wins. Her and Popescu have a perfect 2-0 record in doubles.
The Bulls now head down to Florida for three matches over Spring Break. The first is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 14 against Boston University.
