Bulls Begin Spring Season At Home This Weekend
BUFFALO, NY -The University at Buffalo women's tennis team begins the spring season with two home matches on Friday and Sunday. The Bulls (0-1) will face St.John's University on Friday, Jan. 28th, at 1p.m. and the University of Pittsburgh on Sunday, Jan.30th, 11a.m. at the Miller Tennis Center.
After a fall season with matches at Cornell Invitational, ITA Regionals at Dartmouth and Yale, the Bulls come back ready to take over the spring season.
The UB tennis team starts off with their two seniors, Diana Popescu and Aleksandra Petrova followed by junior, Sonya Ivanyuk, and sophomores Tamara Markovic and Kira Golenko. The women's tennis team also welcomes four newcomers: sophomore Shelby Bates and freshmen Dominica Nemec, Miranda Podlas, and Marta Stoyanova, all under head coach Kathy Twist and assistant coach Kristen Ortman.
The Bulls last met St.John's last January, and Pitt in February of 2009 with both matches concluding with wins on the Bulls side.
While this is St.John's University first dual match of the year, Pittsburgh (1-1) already started their season last weekend with a win against St.Francis and loss to Penn State.
