Denise Harijanto Named ITA Northeast Senior Player of the Year
BUFFALO, NY- Senior Denise Harijanto concluded her stellar senior season and career as she was named the ITA Northeast Senior Player of the Year the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
Harijanto finished her season as a first-team All-MAC selection as she played first singles and doubles for the Bulls. She finished with a 17-14 mark in singles, including a 10-6 mark at first singles. Harijanto finished her UB career second in singles wins with 81.
In doubles, she finished the season with a 23-10 record, including a 13-5 mark at first doubles with partner Aleksandra Petrova. Harijanto finished her career as UB's all-time leader in doubles wins with 89 and her 170 combined victories are also the most ever for a UB women's tennis player.
Harijanto finishes her career with two All-MAC First Team appearances and two appearance on the Second Team. She was also a three-year selection to the Academic All-MAC Team.
Harijanto is the second UB player to win this award as Andreea Novaceanu took the honor in 2007-08. She is also now one of 12 regional winners who automatically qualify as finalists for the ITA National Senior Player of the Year.
