Kimberly Brandao enters her fourth year as an assistant coach with the University at Buffalo women’s soccer team, in charge of coordinating road trips and game-day operation. Brandao joined UB while in the midst of an extensive professional career having recently finished her first season with the W-League’s WNY Flash.

Playing defense for the Flash, Kimberly made two starts and had an assist for the season as the team won the Women’s Professional Soccer league title in 2011.

Prior to joining her current squad, Brandao played the summer seasons with Jersey Sky Blue (2007-2008) and New Jersey Wildcats (2004) of the W-League. Brandao also brings international playing experience having played for Falkopings KIK in Sweden after the W-League’s 2007 season, and for C.F. Puebla in 2008 in Spain’s women’s first division. Brandao currently plays for the Portuguese National Team where she was recently a co-captain for the 2009 Algarve Cup. 

Brandao was a stand out defender for Rutgers University from 2002-2006 where she was a two-year captain, and two-year MVP for the Scarlet Knights. She was a four-time BIG EAST selection and helped lead the team to their highest ever national ranking of 11.

A native of Rahway, NJ, Brandao currently resides in Buffalo. She has a sister, Lissette and a brother, Paulo.
