Women's Rowing Finishes Fall Season at the Foot of the Charles
BOSTON, MA -- The University at Buffalo women's rowing team concluded its 2012 fall season by competing in the Foot of the Charles Regatta. The team faced off against the likes of Boston University, Radcliffe and MIT.
In the Varsity 4 race, UB had four boats on the water. The varsity 4 "A" boat consisting of coxswain Emily Glasgow, Rosa Kemp, Justine Bottorff, Veronika Kwinecki and Heide MacMahon finished in 21st place with a time of 15:03.3.
Coxswain Kara Buchheit, Brittany Davidson, Danielle Carlino, Hannah Miller-Selzer, Kaitlyn Koscielniak of the varsity 4 "C" boat crossed the line with a time 0f 15:21.2, good for 30th place.
The varsity 4 "D" rowers coxswain Katie Boniello, Alexa Shoiock, Samantha Paige, Hayley Franco, Sarah Gallagher claimed 35th place at 15:39.9.
The varisty 4 "B" boat broke an oar during its time on the water and continued the race rowing bow pair only, this caused the boat to come in 42nd place with a time of 18:02.8. This boat was controlled by coxswain Alyssa Porter, Melissa Ward, Deborah Garth, Shannon David and Sydney Gilchrist.
UB put one boat on the water for the Novice 8 competition. This boat held coxswain Courtney Donovan, Meghan O'Brien, Erica Tenteromano, Colleen Patterson, Allyssa Cotten, Arielle Fleming, Elaine Slaven, Caroline Lodinsky and Clare Costello and finished with a time of 15:14.3, good for eighth place.
The Bulls finished back to back in the 3rd Varsity 8 race, the lightweight 8 with coxswain Christine Proulx, Margaret Lawn, Francisca Strange-Sepulveda, Katie Coffin, Hanna Victor, Raleigh Galbraith, Stephanie Iannacchino, Cassandra Nicolia, Megan Klyczek crossed in seventh place at 14:21.3 while the varisty 8 "A" boat finished eighth witha time of 14:27.3. This boat consisted of coxswain Marlee Rothschild, Mackenzie Turpin, Nicole Ciesielski, Sara-Ann Fox, Jessica Levy, Bethany Cross, Elizabeth Murphy and Alyssa Gabel.
