Eleven Rowers Named CRCA Scholar Athletes
BUFFALO, NY – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its scholar athlete award winners for the 2011 season and 11 University at Buffalo rowers were on the list.
Danielle Carlino, Shannon David, Gina Giammichele, Julia Hahn, Ashley Hanhurst, Rosa Kemp, Megan Klyczek, Emily Marshall, Elizabeth Murphy, Sam Palma and Cornelia Willis were all honored by the CRCA.
Carlino is a legal studies major with a 3.63 grade point average. David is a psychology major with 3.61 grade point average. Giammichele is a nursing major with a 3.53 GPA. Hahn is studying pre-pharmacy and has a 3.65 grade point average. A nursing major, Hanhurst has a 3.75 GPA. Kemp is an exercise science major with a 3.74 grade point average. Klyczek is majoring in biomedical science with a 3.57 GPA. A business major, Marshall has a 3.72 GPA. Murphy is a history major and has a 3.58 grade point average. Also a history major, Palma has a 3.8 GPA. Willis is a bio-chemistry major with a 3.54 grade point average.
Of the 65 schools represented on the list, only Wisconsin (13) and MIT (12) had more student-athletes honored than the 11 by Buffalo.
To qualify for the award, the student-athlete must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher and have competed in 75 percent of the team's races.
