ITHACA, NY – The University at Buffalo rowing program concluded its weekend at the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, NY with four wins over Syracuse on Saturday morning. The Bulls raced against the Orange in the morning before racing Yale, the top-ranked team in the nation, in the afternoon.
Buffalo's Second Varsity Eight boat of coxswain Alison Sheehan, Sam Masucci, Danielle Carlino, Lindsay DiCosimo, Alexandra Condon,Ashley Hanhurst, Dakota Smith, Jacklyn Postulka and Kelsey Tretterdefeated Syracuse 6:48.9 to 6:58.7, while the Varsity Four boat of coxswain Britt Marshall, Sydney Gilchrist, Megan Bayley, Sarah Gallagher and Rachel Cuthbert finished in 7:32.4, opposed to Syracuse's 7:48.5. The Bulls also defeated Syracuse in the Second Varsity Four race, but did finish seven and a half seconds behind Cornell, who was also in the race. UB's Third Varsity Eight boat finished in 7:04.7, nearly 20 seconds faster than Syracuse.
The Bulls hung tight with Yale, rowing the top crew in the country stroke for stroke. UB's Varsity Eight boat finished in 6:38.2, under 10 seconds behind Yale's boat. The Second Varsity Eight boat finished just 10 seconds behind, while the Varsity Four finished 25 seconds behind Yale.
UB is back in action next weekend as it travels to Camden, NJ for the Knecht Cup. The race will begin on Saturday April 10.
