BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo Division of Athletics has announced a new "Legends of the Hardwood" series, honoring the greatest men's and women's basketball players at UB. This Saturday, Hall of Fame guard Brenna Doty Rousseau will be honored by having her number #31 honored in Alumni Arena.
Doty Rousseau is second on UB's all time with scoring list with 1,703 career points (14.7 per game), and she is the most prolific three point shooter in Buffalo women's basketball history. She holds the UB record with 296 career three-pointers, and she led the nation with 3.5 treys per game during the 1996-97 season.
Doty Rousseau also ranked second in the nation in Division I with a 46.0 three-point field goal percentage in 1996-97, and she participated in the NCAA Three-Point Shootout at the men's Final Four in Indianapolis. Doty was a three-time UB Female Athlete of the Year and a three-time Mid-Continent Conference First Team selection.
She currently holds or shares 10 UB single season and career records. She was inducted into the Dr. and Mrs. Edmond J. Gicewicz Family UB Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.
"We want to embrace our former student-athletes and events such as this build tradition here at the University at Buffalo," said Director of Athletics Danny White.
Doty Rousseau will be honored on Saturday prior to the women's basketball game vs. Western Michigan at 2:00 pm.
