Brown Collects Fourth MAC Player Of The Week Honor

BUFFALO, NY – Senior Kourtney Brown was named the MAC East Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday afternoon as she led the Bulls to a pair of wins, helping them clinch a home game in the upcoming MAC Tournament.  The four Player of the Week honors this season tie Brown with Kaihla Szunko from Central Michigan for the most this year.

Brown averaged 22.0 points and 7.0 blocks per game in UB's two victories this past week.  Brown had 29 points and five blocks in the win over Miami and then erupted for a career-high and school record tying nine blocks against Ohio.  The nine blocks are also tied for the most in a single game in MAC history.  Brown now has 249 career blocks in her career, which is just one away from the MAC record for career blocks.  Brown also had 15 points against Ohio, all coming in the second half.  She became the first player in the MAC to go over 600 points this season.

Brown currently leads the conference in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots.  She currently has 100 more points than any other player in the conference and 43 more blocks than the next closest competitor.  In the latest national rankings that were released today, Brown is 12th in scoring, fourth in rebounding, fifth in blocks and seventh in field goal percentage.

Brown and the Bulls conclude the regular season on Wednesday night as they head to Bowling Green for a 7:00 pm start.  UB will begin play in the 2011 MAC Tournament on Saturday night when it hosts an opponent to be determined at 7:00 pm.
