Kourtney Brown Named MAC East Player Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY – Senior Kourtney Brown was named MAC East Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon, coming off a career week where she had back-to-back 30-point performances.  It was the ninth career Player of the Week honor for Brown.

Brown averaged 33.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocks over UB's two games this past week. Brown had a career-high 35 points against Miami, while adding seven blocks against the RedHawks, tying for her career best. In the win over the Bobcats, Brown had 31 points, her third 30-point effort of the season, while completing the double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds. The double-double was the 39th of her career and 10th of the season. Brown shot over 72 percent from the field over the two games, converting on 26 of her 36 shots. She also went 14-of-17 from the free throw line. Brown is now averaging 22.2 points per game and 11.9 rebounds per contest, shooting 62.3 percent from the floor.

In the latest national rankings which were released this afternoon, Brown is currently seventh in the country in scoring, sixth in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage and 23rd in blocked shots.  Brown's 10 double-doubles this season are also tied for 10th in the nation.

Brown's 66 points this past week have moved her into second place on the all-time scoring list, just 38 points away from Brenna Doty's school record of 1,703.  Brown's 25 rebounds move her to just 28 boards shy of Janet Lilly's school record of 982.

UB wraps up its first round of games with the MAC East tomorrow night when it hosts Bowling Green at Alumni Arena.  Tip off is set for 7:00 pm.  Those unable to make it to the game can watch it live on Time Warner SportsNet.
