2011-12: Raced in the consolation finals at the MAC Championships finishing 11th in the 50 freestyle (20.57) and 12th in the 100 freestyle (45.22). Also placed 33rd in the 200 freestyle (1:44.62) at the league meet.
2010-11: Earned championship points at the MAC Championships with his eighth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (21.15). Also placed 17th in the 100 freestyle (46.43) and 31st in the 200 freestyle (1:45.02) with season-best times in both races.
2009-10: Tied for 12th in the 50 freestyle (21.16) at the MAC Championships. Placed 27th in the 100 freestyle (47.33) and 30th in the 200 freestyle (1:45.11) at the MAC meet.
High School: Earned four letters and captained two seasons at Norwin Area High School for coach Neil Rushnock. Broke the record in the 50 and 100 freestyles and was an All-American in 2008 and 2009. Also swam for the GPAC Bulldogs for coach Alex Kinzler.
Personal: Born May 8, 1991. Son of Patrick and Diane Smrekar. Has one brother (Danny) and three sisters (Jessica, Stephanie, Rachael). Favorite TV show is Family Guy. Favorite foods are pizza and hamburgers. Chose UB because of the talented swim team and the highly-ranked engineering school. Also recruited by Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Western Kentucky . Majoring in aerospace and mechanical engineering.
