Meili Carpenter Named to Academic All-District Team
BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior Meili Carpenter has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I University Division Second Team for the second year in a row, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday morning.
Carpenter wrapped up an impressive career as a standout diver on
UB's swimming and diving team, sweeping the diving events at the
Mid-American Conference Championship meet on her way to being named
the 2010 MAC Diver of the Year. She also broke her own school
record four times in the three-meter dive throughout the season,
finishing with a lifetime best and school record score of 350.65 at
the MAC Championship meet. She also participated in the 2010
Women's Swimming and Diving NCAA meet for the third time in her
career, finishing 11th in the three-meter event, her highest ever
placing at the meet, 12th place on the one-meter board and 20th in
the platform dive, earning All-American honorable mention following
the meet. Carpenter was awarded Most Valuable Player by the Buffalo
coaches at the conclusion of the season.
The science education major owns a 3.77 GPA, qualifying her as a UB Scholar-Athlete, and was also named to the Academic All-MAC team, as well as the All-MAC First Team.
