WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – University at Buffalo diver Meili Carpenter completed the first day of the 2010 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships tonight, finishing 12th out of 37 competitors in the one-meter event with a final score of 296.50.
Carpenter scored 293.05 points in the preliminary round of the
one-meter board, qualifying 12th out of 37 divers. She maintained
her 12th place position in the final round, scoring 296.50 points
to close out the night. It was the first time in her career that
she advanced past the preliminary round with the top 16 divers
moving into the final round.
Houston's Anastasia Pozdniakova won the one-meter event
with a new NCAA record of 356.20.
Carpenter will compete in the three-meter event tomorrow and the platform event on Saturday to complete the weekend.
