ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team fell to Ohio 3-0 this afternoon at Ohio Softball Field.
The Bobcats capitalized on a pair of costly Buffalo errors to earn their first two runs of the game, scoring in the bottom of the first and again in the bottom of the third. Ohio's Emily Wethington earned the only RBI on the day in the bottom of the third inning. The Buffalo offense struggled throughout the game, recording their only hit in the top of the sixth. Freshman Ashley Bertot singled in the sixth inning to spoil the Bobcats' no-hitter.
Sharon Barr earned the start on the mound, pitching the first two innings before being relieved by Terese Diaz. Diaz pitched the remaining four innings, striking out four batters and holding the Bobcats to four hits and no runs.
The Bulls will have a chance to split the series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm at Ohio Softball Field.
