BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's men's tennis team spent some time during their recent spring break helping with a local community service project. The Bulls spent several hours last week at Buffalo's Boys and Girls Club pitching in with litter pickup and landscaping work for the facility.
Head coach Lee Nickell commented on his team's efforts off the court with the project. "I am very proud of my guys for setting up a project like this over spring break," said Nickell. "The Boys and Girls Club is a wonderful organization and we were very happy to help make the area a safer place for the children to play. We made it a goal of ours to be active in helping the community this year and Jason Shkodnik has done a great job working in conjunction with our SAAC getting us out there."
Many of UB's athletic teams have taken on community service projects in the past several months. The entire men's tennis and women's softball teams as well as individual members of UB's track and field, rowing and women's basketball teams were part of a Habitat For Humanity project in September restoring a fire-damaged home in Buffalo.
