Fall 2010: Earned a number four seed, highest ever for a UB player, but fell in the second round at the ITA Regionals. Combined with George Tibil for a first round victory in the ITA’s doubles bracket. Won the A-1 flight title at the Cornell Invitational as the top seed, scoring four wins, all in straight sets.  

2009-10: Named All-MAC First Team and All-MAC Tournament squad. Was 16-7 as UB’s number one singles player and 17-6 in doubles combining with Kirill Kolomyts for a 9-1 record. Became first player in UB’s Division I history to attain a national and regional rankings, finishing seventh in the Northeast region in 2010. Ranked 107th nationally prior to beginning of spring season. Named MAC Player of the Week after going 7-0 during spring break play in Florida. Swept his three singles matches in the season-opening St. Bonaventure Invitational. Attained a number five seed in the ITA Regional championships, but was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to illness. 

Previous college: Attended the University of Tulsa. Was 5-4 in singles play, mostly at the fourth, fifth and sixth slots. Helped the Golden Hurricane to the Conference USA title as the team reached the second round of the NCAA Championships.

Personal: Born October 11, 1988. Son of Waclaw Starakiewicz and Elzbieta Niebrzydowska-Starakiewicz. Has two sisters (Ewa Jaskolska, Urszula Gulan). Played on both the juniors and men’s ITF circuits , posting a 13-11 record in junior singles. Won the Under-18 Polish Championships in both singles and doubles. Earned a career-high combined ranking of No. 426 from the ITF. Lists Pope John Paul II as his non-sports hero. Enjoys Polish food. Hobbies include dancing and sightseeing. Majoring in communication.
