Starakiewicz Wins MAC Player of the Week Award
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's Wojciech Starakiewiczhas been named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The league announced its choice late Wednesday from its Cleveland headquarters.
During UB's spring trip to Florida and matches against Robert Morris and Duquesne, Starakiewicz posted an unblemished 7-0 record. Starakiewicz and Kirill Kolomyts combined for four wins as the top doubles duo for the Bulls. In singles play, he went 3-0 with his match against Troy's Luis Henrique Grangeiro stopped in the third set after the Trojans had clinched the fourth team point. The sophomore, who played last season at Tulsa, is tied for the team lead with 12 singles victories with Alex Kalinin and Marcelo Mazzetto. Starakiewicz is 12-3 in both singles and doubles action for the Bulls this season.
The Bulls (6-4) open MAC play on March 27 when they host Toledo at 1:00 pm in their next match.
