Mazzetto, Kolomyts Complete Play at ITA Regionals

HANOVER, NH – University at Buffalo men's tennis players Marcelo Mazzetto and Kirill Kolomyts completed play over the weekend at the Wilson/ITA East Regional Championships hosted at Dartmouth University's Boss Tennis Center.

Mazzetto opened play in the singles competition on Friday with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Fairfield's Robert Ferrente in the main draw round of 128. Mazzetto was eliminated in the second round in a grueling three-set match against Penn's Adam Schwartz on Saturday. Mazzetto dropped the opening set, 6-3, but forced a second-set tiebreaker, winning 7-1, to send the match into a third set. However, Schwartz took the final set, 6-2, to advance into Sunday's round of 32.

Mazzetto also paired with Kolomyts in doubles play as the UB duo dropped their opening match in the round of 64 to the Harvard duo of Alistair Felton and Andy Nguyen, 8-4.

The Bulls close out the fall tournament season at the Cornell Invitational. Play begins in Ithaca on Friday, October 30 and concludes on Sunday, November 1.
