Tiedt Earns All-MAC Recogntion
Senior forward Andy Tiedt was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team prior to the opening of the MAC Tournament. Tiedt was the lone UB representative on the list. He led the team with five goals and 14 points and tied for the team lead with four assists. Tiedt scored a pair of game-winners in September victories over NJIT and Siena. His five goals and 14 points tied him for fifth best in the league in both categories. Three of his assists came in league contests, which tied him for second in the MAC in the conference-only statistical listings. A two-year member of the Bulls after playing two seasons at Binghamton, Tiedt finished his career with seven goals and five assists in 36 games. "Andy is a great leader and player," said interim head coach David Hesch. "I feel that a lot of the success that we had this year is due to Andy and his ability to adapt into a new role. In midseason, we moved him into the midfield and it has been the difference."
Fedler, Craven Named to the All-Tournament Team
The Bulls placed a pair onto the MAC's All-Tournament team following the conclusion of the tournament on Sunday evening. Freshman defender Lukas Fedler and sophomore midfielder Richard Craven were recognized for their efforts in the 1-0 loss to eventual tournament champion Northern Illinois. Fedler and Craven each were credited with a shot in Friday's match as both were on the field for the entire 90 minutes. This is the second consecutive season that a Craven has made the All-Tournament team. Sam Craven, in his lone season with the Bulls, earned a spot on the 2010 team as he scored UB's lone goal of their semifinal loss to Akron.
Hesch Comments on Semifinal Loss
Following the MAC Tournament semifinal loss, interim head coach David Hesch commented on his team. "This was a tough one to swallow," said Hesch. "I felt the boys played well enough to win but need to find a way to finish our chances in the box. Hats go off to the seniors, they are going to be tough to replace. This team would not have reached where we were if it wasn't for my staff. They did a tremendous job."
