Kaartoluoma, Fetterman Named to Academic All-District Team

BUFFALO, NY – Two University at Buffalo men's soccer players, Juha Kaartoluoma and Nick Fetterman, have been named to the ESPN Academic All-Distirct Second Team. The awards, sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), were announced on Tuesday.

Kaartoluoma, a senior management major with a 3.58 grade point average, is second on the team with three goals this season. A UB Scholar-Athlete and Mid-American Conference Commissioner's Award winner, Kaartoluoma has tripled his scoring output in his final season with the Bulls, after just one goal in three previous seasons. In 2010, he has appeared in 14 games with nine starts at forward. He scored UB's game-winning goal in a 2-0 win at Cleveland State on October 11.

Fetterman, a senior civil engineering major with a 3.65 grade point average, has seen the bulk of the work in goal for the Bulls this season. Fetterman recorded his second shutout of the season on October 31 as the Bulls downed Florida Atlantic, 1-0, to ensure a spot in the MAC Tournament. This season, he has 10 starts in goal with a 2.10 goals against average and 34 saves. He is a UB Scholar-Athlete, member of Chi Alpha Sigma honor society and a MAC Commissioner's Award winner.

The Bulls (7-8-1, 3-2-0 MAC) close out the regular season on Friday, November 5 against Western Michigan at 7:30 pm at UB Stadium. The match will determine the second-place finisher in the league.
