Fetterman Wins MAC Scholar Athlete Honors
BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's soccer player Nick Fetterman has been named as the Mid-American Conference's Men's Scholar Athlete of the Week. The league announced its selections from its Cleveland headquarters on Friday.
Fetterman a junior civil engineering major with a 3.654 overall grade point average, had his first shutout of the season and fifth of his career when he scored a 1-0 victory over Hartwick in the MAC season opener for the men's soccer team on September 28. Fetterman stopped five Hawk shots in the match. He also had five saves in UB's 1-1 double-overtime tie at home against Duquesne on October 3 and finished the week with 13 total saves and a 1-1-1 record.
The Bulls (4-5-1, 1-0-0 MAC) travel to Ohio for the holiday weekend with a match at MAC rival Bowling Green on Saturday at 1:00 pm and a non-league matchup at Cleveland State on Columbus Day at 4:00 pm.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
