BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo men's soccer player and 2008 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection Dominic Oppong signed with the Harrisburg City Islanders of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) Second Division.
Appearing in 16 contests as a senior in 2008, Oppong was named All-MAC Second Team, netting five goals to rank second on the team. In the season opener versus Bucknell on August 29, the midfielder scored the game-winner with 3:13 remaining. He finished the season with two game-winning goals with his second coming in a 3-0 conference home-opening victory over Florida Atlantic on September 17.
In two seasons with the Bulls, Oppong scored six goals and recorded six assists for 18 career total points. He joined UB in 2007 after transferring from the University of Cincinnati, where he played in 2005 and 2006.
Prior to signing with Harrisburg, Oppong played for the North York Astros of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) and Buffalo City FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in 2009. Previously, he spent two seasons with the Toronto Lynx of the USL Premier Development League (PDL).
The City Islanders enter their seventh season of competition, joining the Charleston (SC) Battery, Charlotte Eagles, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Real Maryland Monarchs and Richmond Kickers to comprise the USL Second Division.
