McCrea Picks Up Second MAC Player of the Week Honor

BUFFALO, NY – Sophomore forward Javon McCrea was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season after leading the Bulls to two crucial conference wins last week. The Newark, NY native averaged 15.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two games.

McCrea scored 15 points and added seven rebounds in Buffalo's 82-70 win over the previously unbeaten Akron Zips. He also had two assists, two steals and a block. He followed it up with his fourth double double of the season after pulling down a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with 16 points, three steals and three blocks.

For the season, McCrea is averaging 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He is second in the MAC in points per game, fourth in rebounds and second in field-goal percentage (.577) and ranks third in scoring and fifth in rebounding.

The Bulls (10-6, 3-2 MAC) will open play against the MAC West on Tuesday with a home game against West Division co-leader Eastern Michigan (9-10, 4-1 MAC) before heading out West to face Northern Illinois on Saturday. Tipoff at Alumni Arena Tuesday will be 7 pm.
