It's Kids Day as the Bulls Host Akron on Sunday Afternoon
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team will host Akron on Sunday afternoon looking to notch its first conference win of the season. The Bulls have suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses to start Mid-American Conference play – losing to Bowling Green in double-overtime followed by a three-point defeat at Miami (OH).
Freshman forward Javon McCrea continues to improve and is coming off the best game of his career against Miami. McCrea had a career-high 26 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. The Newark, NY native is averaging 22 points and nine rebounds in MAC play.
Akron is 10-6 overall, 1-1 in the MAC and is coming off a 79-70 loss to Ohio on Wednesday night. The Zips have four players scoring in double-figures, led by Nikola Cvetinovic who is averaging 11.5 points.
Akron leads the all-time series, 24-18. The Zips won the last meeting, 77-67, at Rhodes Arena last year.
Sunday's game is Kids Day at Alumni Arena. All kids 12 & under get in free with a paid adult, and activities include face painting, a bounce house, mascot entertainment from Victor E. Bull and his friends and a pregame pizza party for Jr. Bulls members.
Sunday's game will be televised on SportsTime Ohio with Michael Reghi and Steve Mix calling the action. As always, Josh Whetzel and Pete Lonergan will call the game on WECK 1230-AM.

Sunday's game starts a busy week of UB basketball at Alumni Arena. The women's team will host Bowling Green on Tuesday night. Fans will receive a men's team poster and there will be an autograph signing at halftime. The men's team returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Kent State. It's Wing Wednesday featuring free wings for first 200 fans and wing-eating contest at halftime.
