Neutz and Way Named to Academic All-MAC Football Team

BUFFALO, NY – For the second straight year, both Alex Neutz and Colby Way have been named to the Academic All-MAC Football Team, as voted on by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions.

Neutz is a management major with a 3.59 grade point average. The junior wide receiver had the best season of his career in 2012. He had 65 receptions for 1,015 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to earning All-MAC Second Team honors. He became the just the third player in school history to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.

Way is a computer engineering major with a 3.49 GPA. The junior defensive end ranked second on the team in sacks with seven to go along with 58 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss.

In addition, honorable mention honors went to Rudy Johnson, Matt Weiser and Alex Zordich. Johnson, a business administration major, has a 3.25 GPA. Weiser has a 3.21 GPA as a communication major. Zordich is a business administration major with a 3.22 grade point average.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
