UB Football Team Earns Highest GPA in School History
BUFFALO, NY – For the second straight semester, the University at Buffalo football team set a new high for the team's Grade Point Average. The team had a combined 2.8 GPA in the Fall semester, surpassing its previous record of 2.6 set during the Spring 2012 semester.
Improvement in the classroom continues an upward trend ever since Jeff Quinn became head coach in 2010. He has placed an emphasis on academics and his players have responded.
"We have more student-athlete football players who are more responsible for their self determination of what they expect of themselves and each other when it comes to on the field and off the field accomplishments," Quinn said.
In the Fall semester, 43 football players had a GPA of 3.0 or better, including two players with a perfect 4.0.
