Bulls to Host Stony Brook in Home Opener on Saturday
BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo will host Stony Brook in the home opener on Saturday at UB Stadium. It will be the first meeting between the schools. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 pm.
The Bulls looked impressive in a 35-16 loss in the season opener against Big East opponent Pittsburgh. Fifth-year senior quarterback Chazz Anderson threw for 276 yards, completing 32 of 49 attempts and is emerging as the leader of the team.
Head Coach Jeff Quinn acknowledged that Saturday's match-up against Stony Brook has his team's full attention. "We're going to have to come with our A-game," Quinn said.
Stony Brook forced four turnovers and nearly pulled the upset at UTEP last Saturday. The Seawolves also showed strength on the offensive side of the ball, rushing for over 200 yards.
Sophomore running back Branden Oliver gave UB its first 100-yard rusher since 2009, going for 114 yards on 35 touches. The Bulls receiving corps, which have been spotlighted throughout camp did not disappoint. Alex Neutz led all receivers with 10 catches, but Chazz Anderson was excited to mention that all six receivers that played had a catch.
Anderson also mentioned that he is anxious to play in his first home game in front of a Bulls crowd. Looking back to the Pittsburgh game, the Buffalo quarterback said his team had too many missed opportunities. "The team that makes the least amount of mistakes will win the football game," Anderson said.
Coach Quinn added, "We are approaching this game like we will every single game. Like it is the most important game." Quinn also said he wants his team to take each game one-snap at a time. "Perform for four quarters every single player, every single play, every single day- and you will get the results.
