Davonte Shannon Named Preseason All-American
BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior safety Davonte Shannon has been named to the Preseason All-America Team by College Football Insiders. Shannon was named an honorable mention selection. The Jeannette, PA native is Buffalo's first preseason All-American selection in the Bulls' Division I-A era.
Shannon enters his senior season ranked sixth in school history in total tackles (341) and fourth in solo tackles (193). He is looking to become only the fourth player in the long history of the Mid-American Conference to be a four-time first-team All-MAC selection.
Shannon is one of several Bulls to be named to preseason All-MAC teams by college football publications. He was named to the preseason All-MAC First Team by Sporting News, Athlonand Lindy's. Senior offensive tackle Peter Bittner has been named first-team All-MAC bySporting News and Athlon and second team by Lindy's. Athlon also named cornerbackDomonic Cook to its first team and defensive end Steven Means to its second team.
In addition, Phil Steele's College Football Preview has nine UB players on its preseason All-MAC team. Bittner and Cook were named to the first team. Shannon was named to the second team. Running back Ike Nduka, kicker A.J. Principe and linebacker Justin Winterswere named to the third team. Cornerback Josh Thomas was named to the fourth team and Means and offensive lineman Jordan Jerrold were named honorable mention.
