Alex Baldock and Matt Pollock Named to Academic All-MAC Team
Juniors Alex Baldock and Matt Pollock were named to the Mid-American Conference's Academic team Thursday, as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. The duo's honor mark the first time under head coach Ron Torgalski that the Bulls had multiple players make the list, which this season consisted of 21 players.

Cameron Copping Inks Free Agent Deal With Seattle Mariners
Fresh off a stellar season leading a much-improved Buffalo Bulls pitching staff, recent graduate Cameron Copping signed a minor league contract to play in the Seattle Mariners' farm system Thursday afternoon. The 6-foot-6-inch righty is the second Buffalo player to sign with a major league team this month, joining battery mate and Colorado Rockie Tom Murphy.

Postseason honors continue to roll in for the 2012 Buffalo baseball team. Just a week after Jason Kanzler earned the school's first ever Gold Glove award, the team placed two players on the 2012 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Mideast Region Teams. Junior outfielder Matt Pollock earned first team honors, while recent Colorado Rockies draftee Tom Murphy was named to the regional second team.

Jason Kanzler Earns Rawlings Gold Glove
Junior outfielder Jason Kanzler was named as one of just nine Division I players in the nation to earn a spot on the ABCA's Rawlings Gold Glove Award team for defensive excellence. Kanzler becomes the first Buffalo player and the second player among all Mid-American Conference schools to win the award since it's inception in 2007.

#10 Baseball Makes Splash in First MAC Tournament
The team needed all 52 games of the regular season, but the Buffalo Bulls baseball team made the Mid-American Conference’s postseason tournament for the first time ever in 2012, beating Bowling Green 8-5 on May 19 to earn the eighth and final spot in the double elimination tournament. Not satisfied with just getting there, the Bulls also upset #4 seed Ohio 6-5 and also sent home #5 seed Western Michigan 10-8 all within a 24-hour span.

Tom Murphy Drafted in the Third Round of MLB Draft
Capping off a career that saw him leave his name all over the Buffalo baseball record books, junior catcher Tom Murphy was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the third round of the 2012 Major League Baseball first-year player draft, 105 overall. He is the highest of the three players taken in the draft since the program's reinstatement, and in the program's history, he was the earliest drafted player since Peter Grimm went 56 overall in 1983.

The Buffalo baseball team huddles up after every game, win or lose, but Friday evening there was a different feel to the meeting. The Bulls lost 8-3 to the number one seed Kent State in the Mid-American Conference tournament’s semifinal round to end its season, but so many boundaries were pushed by the 2012 team that not one single head was down.

Facing potential elimination in its first-ever appearance in the Mid-American Conference tournament, the Buffalo Bulls turned to its veterans Wednesday afternoon, walking off with a 6-5 win in the tenth inning on a double from junior Alex Baldock. The first baseman hit a two-out double to right center field to plate Matt Pollock to ensure the Bulls will play into Friday.

Adding in the fact that it would face the conference's top starting pitcher and total offense, the Bulls were stifled in its tournament debut Wednesday evening, losing 9-0 to Kent State (38-17).

At long last, the Buffalo baseball team has made it. For the first time since joining the Mid-American Conference for baseball in 2000, the Bulls earned a trip to the conference tournament Saturday afternoon thanks to an 8-5 win over Bowling Green. The win, coupled with an Akron loss at Kent State, helped Buffalo clinch the eighth and final spot in the tournament, which starts May 23.

The senior threw a complete game seven-hitter and was buoyed by 14 runs by the offense as Buffalo thrashed Bowling Green Thursday afternoon 14-0. The win eliminated the Falcons from postseason contention and kept Buffalo's slim hopes very much alive.

In its final non-conference series of the 2012 season, the Buffalo Bulls (16-33) split its Tuesday doubleheader with St. Bonaventure (21-24). Behind a complete-game win from Dan Ginader, the Bulls took game one 6-1, but control issues from the UB pitching staff gave the Bonnies an 11-4 win in game two.

With both teams combining for eight runs over the final two innings of the game Saturday, the Eastern Michigan Eagles (23-25, 13-10 MAC) were able to hold off multiple comeback attempts by the Bulls (15-31, 8-14 MAC) and earned an 11-7 win.

Led by a school-record 6-for-6 performance from junior Jason Kanzler, the University at Buffalo baseball team (15-30, 8-13 MAC) pounded out a season-high 28 hits en route to an 18-3 victory over Eastern Michigan (22-25, 12-10 MAC) on Friday afternoon at Amherst Audubon Field. Kanzler also tied a modern day program record with three stolen bases in the game.

Despite the games being played at Amherst Audubon Field, the Bulls were the away team for the games, which was due to the pair being a makeup of yesterday's postponed series in Niagara.

Despite a resurgence of power from Tom Murphy and a nearly 2-to-1 advantage in hits, the Bulls were unable to pull out a win Friday evening against the Ohio Bobcats, losing 6-4. Four players had a pair of hits for UB (10-24, 3-9 MAC), who owned an 11-6 advantage in hits, but a rare rough patch for starter Cameron Copping proved to be just enough for Ohio (20-17, 9-4 MAC).

The Buffalo baseball team capped its seven-game home stand Wednesday afternoon, losing to rival Canisius 14-4. For just the second time all season, the Bulls were unable to draw a single walk on offensive, while its pitching staff walked seven and allowed 16 hits.

After cruising to his third straight dominant effort against a Mid-American Conference opponent, senior righthander Cameron Copping was named the conference's East Division Pitcher of the Week. The Temple City, CA native is the first Bulls to win a weekly conference award since May 9 of the 2011 season, and he is the first UB pitcher to win since March of 2010.

It was a long day at the ballpark Friday afternoon, with the Buffalo Bulls (9-20, 2-8 MAC) scheduled to play two games against Mid-American Conference east division rival Akron (14-20, 7-4 MAC). While game one cruised to a quick finish and a 3-2 UB win, game two went 16 innings before Akron pulled out the 5-4 win. The Bulls tied game two up in the bottom of the ninth inning to force the record-setting bonus baseball.

Needing to regain its swagger after a frustrating weekend on the road, the Buffalo baseball team came out with a purpose Tuesday afternoon and put together a complete effort, beating Big Four rival Canisius 13-4. Combining a solid start from pitcher Mike Burke and a return to form from the offense, the Bulls cruised to a win that snapped its nine-game losing streak and earned its first home win of the season.

Cameron Copping followed up 10 scoreless innings in his previous start with another outstanding day, but the Golden Flashes were able to take advantage of the UB bullpen and scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to steal the series opener 5-4.

The Bulls (7-14, 1-4 MAC) put the ball in play throughout the game but were unable to get the ball past the defense, striking out a season-low four times but only scoring four runs.

After holding off a late rally from Central Michigan not 24 hours ago, the Buffalo Bulls could not duplicate the outcome, losing for the sixth time this season on the final at-bat and falling 14-13 Sunday afternoon to the Chippewas. There were plenty of bright spots on offense, with the team raking 19 hits and seven players posting two hits or more, but the defense committed four errors that gave the home team enough extra room to stage the come-from-behind win.

Fueled by an eight-run third inning, the Buffalo baseball team got back to what it does best Saturday afternoon, beating Central Michigan 11-10. After a season mired by numerous walk-off losses, the UB pitching staff found some redemption and held off the Chippewas' late charge to put the team in position to earn a critical conference series win in tomorrow's rubber match. Mike Burke went a perfect 4-4 at the plate and pitched two innings of relief for his first career save as well.

The Buffalo offense continued to find consistency Friday afternoon, losing its conference opener to Central Michigan 7-2. After 12 straight games with double digit hits that carried it to a 6-6 record in that span, the Bulls had its third straight game with single digit hits that led to a fourth straight loss.

For the second time this season, the Buffalo baseball team (6-9) fell victim on back-to-back games on the final at bat, losing Sunday afternoon 5-4 to Villanova. After earning a 4-0 lead early in the game, the Wildcats (13-7) chipped away before scoring twice in the ninth inning.

Despite a stellar performance on the mound from senior starting pitcher Kevin Hughes, the Buffalo baseball team dropped a 5-2 loss at St. Joseph's Saturday afternoon. The Hawks put up four runs in the eighth inning to finally break through after a brisk start to the game by the UB pitching staff. Matt Pollock was a perfect 4-4 in the game, with two doubles and a RBI.

Bulls Double Up on UMBC, 16-8
Led by four separate Bulls recording three or more hits, the baseball team won its fourth straight game Wednesday evening, beating the UMBC Retrievers 16-8. Jon Mestas had a career-high four hits, while Matt Pollock came a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. The Bulls as a team hit for the cycle in the fifth and sixth innings to run away with the win.

Led by a strong outing from freshman reliever Anthony Magovney, the Buffalo baseball team overcame an early lead from the Towson Tigers and held them off late, winning 8-6 Tuesday afternoon. Matt Pollock hit the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning and senior Kevin Crumb nailed down the team's first save of the season. The win was the team's fifth in the past six games, and it was the first home loss of the season for Towson (6-8).

Tom Murphy drove in eight runs, a program record since its reinstatement in 2000.

After a pair of disappointing starts to open the year, senior pitcher Cameron Copping was searching for a performance that would not only settle him down, but set a positive tone for the Buffalo pitching staff. He did that and more Saturday afternoon, striking out nine batters in six innings while allowing one lone run and two hits, leading the team to an 8-1 victory.

Despite slugging five home runs and putting up 12 runs, the Buffalo baseball team could not get an easy out and allowed the most runs in a single game in almost seven years, falling to Canisius 24-12 on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon in Buffalo. Thomas Richards hit two home runs in the loss.

Jason Kanzler had three hits and four RBI in game one, and Mike Burke pitched all seven innings to earn the win in game two.

Despite holding at least a four run lead in both of its games, the Buffalo baseball team was snakebitten Saturday afternoon, losing both games of a doubleheader to Morehead State by way of a walk off. The team lost game one 8-7, and game two 12-11 in ten innings. Alex Baldock led all UB batters with a combined line of four hits and five runs batted in.

Despite a ferocious rally in the top of the ninth, the Buffalo baseball team could not hold off the host Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday afternoon, losing 7-6 by the very closest of margins. A Dan Scahill home run and a Jon Mestas RBI single with two outs helped the Bulls force the 'Cats to bat in the home half of the ninth, but Kevin Crumb walked Thomas Bernal with the bases loaded on a full count.

Wild winds and control issues by the UB pitching staff helped drop the team's season opener Friday evening at Cliff Hagan Stadium, losing 13-4 to the Kentucky Wildcats (4-0). The pitching staff issued nine walks and hit four batters, allowing the 'Cats to score their runs on just 13 hits.

USA Baseball announced its preseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List Thursday, recognizing the top amateur baseball player in the country. Sponsored by Major League Baseball, the Golden Spikes Award will be presented in 2012 for the 35th time. Junior catcher Tom Murphy was named as one of just 50 amateur players in the country to make the prestigious list.

Buffalo Coaching Staff to Host Christmas Camps
The Buffalo baseball coaching staff has announced four winter camps for December, to be held at the North Amherst Recreation Center. The camps will cover general skills, hitting, pitching, and catching. Also included will be a prospect camp for all high school and junior college players.
