BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Bulls managed to beat out the rain Sunday afternoon, but it could not handle a hot Akron offense, losing the rubber match 8-3 at Amherst Audubon Field.

The trouble started early for Bulls pitcher Cameron Copping, who found the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the third. After a RBI single and a sacrifice fly, Copping settled down with a strikeout and fly ball to strand two runners in scoring position.

In the fourth, with the score still 2-0 Akron, Alex Baldock led off with a soaring double down the left field line. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, River McWilliams was able to score Baldock from third with a sacrifice fly. Michael Burke reached after getting hit by a pitch, and following another wild pitch he was driven in by Daniel Scahill's line drive double to the right center gap that knotted things up at 2-2.

The Zips took the lead for good in the very next inning though, scoring two more runs and put runners on first and second with no outs to chase Copping from the game. Reliever Cory Folk was able to strand both the runners to keep the score at 4-2.

The UB offense came to the seventh down 5-2 but got another double from Scahill to start out the inning, and he would later score on a double play. That would be all for the team, as Akron put one run up in the eighth and two more in the ninth for the 8-3 win.

With the loss, Buffalo drops to 8-30 (1-15 MAC) while Akron moved to 11-30 (4-15). Next up will be a Tuesday afternoon game at Niagara. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
