Tom Murphy Named First-Team All-Region
University at Buffalo baseball sophomore Tom Murphy has been named to the NCAA Mideast Region First Team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced this past weekend. Murphy, the 2011 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, is the first UB player named to the first team and just the second player honored since reinstatement in 2000.

Alex Baldock Named to the 2011 All-MAC Academic Team
Sophomore first baseman Alex Baldock was named to the 2011 All-Academic team for the Mid-American Conference Monday afternoon. The honor was the first of his career, and he became the second player to make the academic team under the helm of head coach Ron Torgalski. A total of 23 student-athletes were named to the team.

Following one of the best seasons in program history, sophomore catcher Tom Murphy was named the Mid American Conference's Player of the Year, the first Bull to ever earn the award. Murphy won the league's batting title and etched his name into the Buffalo record books in numerous categories.

It was a fitting end for Buffalo's senior class Saturday afternoon, as senior slugger Eric Bryce hit a walk-off solo home run in the 12 to beat Bowling Green in game one, 3-2, helping support senior Josh Edwards, who threw 7.1 quality innings in the game one win. The Falcons won game two 11-3.

Geltz to Join Angels Arizona Fall League Squad
Former Bulls pitcher Steve Geltz's minor league season with the Los Angeles of Anaheim Angels' Double A affiliate in Arkansas might be over, but his season is not. Now finished with his third season in the minor leagues, Geltz has been named to the Angels' Arizona Fall League team, the Mesa Solar Sox. Only seven players from the organization were given a spot on the team.
