National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) Celebration
"Girls in Sport, An Investment in the Future"

2013 marks the 23rd annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) Celebration at the University at Buffalo. The Division of Athletics has planned numerous activities designed educate the campus and surrounding communities on the importance of female participation in sports and the impact that Title IX has had on female athletic opportunities all over the United States.  Our theme is “Girls in Sport, an Investment in the Future.”  Our programs include a Multi-Sport  Clinic for girls grades 4 – 8, A Women in Sports Symposium, and Title IX School Visits to local elementary schools.

Girls Multi-Sports Clinic - January 26, 2013
Our 2013 Celebration will include a Multi-Sports Clinic where 200 girls grades 4 - 8 can participate in a variety of sports stations represented by varsity and club sports team.  The clinic will be held from 10:30am – 12:30pm.  This event includes clinic activities, pizza party and ticket to the UB Women’s basketball game vs. Western Michigan and pre-game Hoopla activities all for $10.00  Space is limited so register now or download Clinic Flyer. Women in Sports Symposium – February 7, 2013
The University at Buffalo will host the inaugural Women in Sports Symposium in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The Symposium is geared to educate, empower and inspire women in sports and sport related fields and targets coaches from all levels, administrators, athletic staff, and graduate students interested in careers in athletics.  Men are encouraged to attend.  The Symposium includes a keynote address by Jolene Nagel, head women’s volleyball coach at Duke University, workshops facilitated by local athletic trailblazers, a networking reception, and UB women’s basketball game all for only $30.  Space is limited so please register today. Spaces will be filled on a first come basis.

School Visits
Our NGWSD Celebration will also include school visits to local elementary schools where our student-athletes will educate the children on the importance on Title IX, the opportunities that it has provided for girls, and the impact that it has had on girls and women in sports.
