BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Danny White has announced the hiring of Eric Gross as Assistant Athletic Director for Revenue and Strategic Initiatives. Gross will oversee the athletic department’s facility campaign, strategic plan and contracts as well as analyze revenue streams.
“I am very pleased to add a professional as talented as Eric Gross to our staff,” White said. “Eric played a key role in our success building a vision for the future of Ole Miss Athletics and implementing a funding model to bring it to reality. I am confident that he will help us hit the ground running as we work to build an aggressive vision for UB Athletics as it relates to raising money for facilities, identifying new revenue streams, and leading our five-year strategic plan.”
Gross comes to Buffalo from the University of Mississippi where he served as the Associate Director of Development. At Ole Miss he was a member of a team that posted three consecutive record–breaking fundraising years since 2010. He played an integral role in the planning, preparation and launch of the Capital Gift Agreement (CGA) program and the Forward Together campaign; a $150 million fundraising effort to bring a new basketball arena and football stadium expansion to Ole Miss.
In his role as a major gifts officer, Gross worked to advance the fundraising efforts of the athletic department through the identification and cultivation of major gift prospects for Vaught Society, Builders Circle and facility naming opportunities.
Prior to joining the UMAA Foundation, Gross was a development assistant with the Tennessee Fund, the fundraising arm for the University of Tennessee Athletics. While at Tennessee, he worked closely with the Director of Capital campaigns to administer to UT Athletics ongoing capital campaign aimed at a number of major facility projects. In addition, he was responsible for drafting capital gift agreements and major gift proposals.
Gross earned his B.A. from San Diego State University and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa. He was admitted to the Tennessee bar in 2009.
“This is an exciting time for UB Athletics as we strive to build off of the strong work that has been done to continue the rapid ascension into FBS athletics,” White said. “Eric will serve a critical role in our charge to advance this department, capture the Buffalo community, and help realize the tremendous potential of this institution.”
“This is an incredible opportunity for me both personally and professionally and I’m extremely excited to be a part of the UB family,” Gross said. “I’m grateful to Danny for the opportunity to join such a talented team and help contribute to the future of UB Athletics.”
