Fedler And McKenna Named Athletes Of The Week

October 3, 2011

Carissa McKenna (West Bloomfield, MI/Walled Lake Northern) of the women's volleyball team recorded 24 kills, including 10 in UB's five-set victory at Bowling Green, and 18 total blocks (four solo) in UB's three matches during the week. McKenna, a sophomore middle blocker, tied her career high with eight blocks against Canisius. She leads the Bulls with 63 total blocks (1.15 per set) this season.

Lukas Fedler (Wuppertel, Germany/Wilhelm-Dorpfeld-Gymnasium) of the men's soccer team scored the game-winning goal in UB's 2-1 double-overtime victory at No. 18 Northern Illinois in the Bulls' Mid-American Conference opening match. Fedler, a freshman, scored on a header at 107:04 off a free kick from Matthew Chereson. It was Fedler’s second goal of the season after netting his first collegiate goal in UB’s overtime win over Niagara on September 23.
