Pollock And Gallardo Named Athletes Of The Week

Sammi Gallardo (Chula Vista, CA/Otay Ranch) of the softball team batted .400 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored in UB's spring break games in Texas. Gallardo went 6-of-15 at the plate in five games. In UB's win over Liberty in Waco, Gallardo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. She also picked up at least one hit in each of the five contests, capped off in UB's win over nationally-ranked Baylor, and is now riding a six-game hitting streak.

 Matt Pollock (Sagamore Hills, OH/Walsh Jesuit) of the baseball team hit .550 in UB's five-game trip to Maryland and Pennsylvania. Pollock went 11-for-20 with three doubles, a triple, a home run and eight RBI while also scoring eight runs from his leadoff position. He had three multi-hit games on the week including a 4-for-4 performance against Saint Joseph's and a three-RBI game against UMBC.
