McCrea And Longar Named Athletes Of The Week

Nytor Longar (Rochester, MN/John Marshall) of the women's basketball team averaged 14.0 points and five rebounds per game in UB's appearance at Iowa State's Cyclone Challenge. Longar scored a career high 19 points in leading the Bulls past NJIT in the tournament opener, 66-53. She also pulled down eight rebounds with two steals and a blocked shot against the Highlanders. The sophomore forward finished the tournament shooting 12 of 19 (63.2 percent), which included a perfect 4 of 4 from the field in the title game against Iowa State.
 Javon McCrea (Newark, NY/Newark) of the men's basketball team had 28 points, one shy of his career high, and added seven rebounds and a pair of blocks in an 87-85 overtime loss at Temple. The sophomore forward scored 24 of his points after halftime in 18 minutes of action. McCrea shot 12 of 16 from the field and scored six of the Bulls' seven points in overtime. McCrea leads the Bulls in both points (17.8) and rebounds (8.0) per game this season.
